Last week, Hertz announced that they made an initial order of 100,000 Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) electric vehicles. Interim Hertz CEO, Mark Fields said the orders would be primarily Model 3 vehicles. However, Tesla CEO Elon Musk said Monday that his company had not signed a contract yet with Hertz and they would have to wait like everyone else for vehicles, bringing a halt to Tesla’s stock rally.
In response to Musk’s comments, Hertz said in a statement that Tesla’s deliveries had already begun.
“We are seeing very strong demand for Tesla in our rental fleet, which reflects market demand for Tesla vehicles,” Hertz said on Tuesday.
The Wall Street Journal reported Thursday, that the two companies are in talks working out how quickly Hertz will be able to receive deliveries. The report cites people familiar with the matter.
