Gov. Abbott signs annual EV tax bill into law

Texas Governor, Greg Abbot signed Senate Bill 505 into law over the weekend, requiring electric vehicle owners to pay $400 to register a new electric vehicle, on top of other fees. Renewing registration will cost $200.

The purpose of the fee is to guarantee that owners of electric vehicles contribute their fair portion towards highway expenses, typically funded by a 20 cent-per-gallon gas tax paid by owners of gasoline-powered and hybrid vehicles.

Berkshire invests in Capital One, sheds four stocks

(Reuters) -Berkshire Hathaway Inc on Monday disclosed it has begun investing in Capital One Financial Corp while exiting investments in four other stocks, as the company run by Warren Buffett cut back its exposure to equities.

Buffett's company made its disclosures in a regulatory filing listing its U.S.-traded stocks as of March 31.

Capital One shares rose 5.7% in after-hours trading following Berkshire's disclosure of a 9.92 million share stake worth about $954 million.

The McLean, Virginia-based bank did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
