Innoviz Technologies (NASDAQ: INVZ) announced a collaboration with Givon Defense to explore the use of LiDAR technology in counter-unmanned aerial systems (counter-UAS) operations, according to a press release issued July 1, 2026.
The collaboration aims to assess whether Innoviz's existing LiDAR sensors can improve real-time precision localization of low-altitude aerial threats. Givon Defense, which describes itself as a national security platform focused on counter-UAS systems, conducted initial testing of Innoviz's LiDAR products as part of its ongoing technology evaluation activities.
The companies said the testing indicated potential for Innoviz's sensors to provide accurate spatial data to support situational awareness in drone defense scenarios. No definitive commercial agreement has been announced.
"Precision localization is a critical component in addressing the evolving challenges of counter-UAS systems," said Omer Keilaf, founder and CEO of Innoviz. "Our LiDAR products are designed to deliver the high-resolution spatial data needed to accurately track low-altitude aerial threats in real time."
Innoviz, based in Tel Aviv, Israel, primarily supplies LiDAR sensor platforms to automotive manufacturers. The company also markets an off-the-shelf product line called InnovizSMART targeting security, defense, and other non-automotive applications.
Innoviz noted in its disclosure that the testing results are preliminary and may not be indicative of future outcomes, and that no definitive development, integration, or supply agreement has been reached with Givon Defense.
