State Street Corporation (NYSE: STT) announced the election of Susan Gordon to its board of directors. Gordon previously served as Principal Deputy Director of National Intelligence and spent 29 years with the Central Intelligence Agency.
Gordon held senior executive positions across all four CIA directorates during her government career. She led the creation of In-Q-Tel, the CIA's venture capital arm, and drove intelligence integration across the U.S. intelligence community.
"Our company's risk profile and growth strategy, as well as the agenda of regulators, are increasingly shaped by factors beyond those of traditional finance," said Ron O'Hanley, State Street's chairman and chief executive officer. "Sue will strengthen board-level oversight of systemic, non-market risks."
Gordon holds a bachelor's degree from Duke University and currently serves as an independent director on the boards of CACI International and BlackSky. She also works as an advisor to Insight Partners and serves as a fellow at Stanford University.
Sara Mathew, State Street's independent lead director, noted Gordon's experience leading organizational change and modernization. Gordon brings expertise in cybersecurity, geopolitical risk, and critical infrastructure resilience to the Boston-based financial services company.
State Street operates globally in more than 100 geographic markets with $53.8 trillion in assets under custody and administration and $5.7 trillion in assets under management as of December 31, 2025. The company employs approximately 52,000 people worldwide.
