Standard Motor Products (SMP) Misses Q1 EPS by 24c, Miss on Revenues

Standard Motor Products (NYSE: SMP) reported Q1 EPS of $0.46, $0.24 worse than the analyst estimate of $0.70. Revenue for the quarter came in at $261.8 million versus the consensus estimate of $280.1 million.

• Consolidated net sales for the first quarter of 2018 were $261.8 million, compared to consolidated net sales of $282.4 million during the comparable quarter in 2017.
• Earnings from continuing operations for the first quarter of 2018 were $8.6 million or 37 cents per diluted share, compared to $16.4 million or 70 cents per diluted share in the first quarter of 2017.
• Excluding non-operational gains and losses identified on the attached reconciliation of GAAP and non-GAAP measures, earnings from continuing operations for the first quarter of 2018 were $10.5 million or 46 cents per diluted share, compared to $17.1 million or 74 cents per diluted share in the first quarter of 2017.
