Icahn Boosts Stake in American Railcar (ARII), Maintains Large Yahoo! (YHOO) and Motorola (MOT) Holdings

Carl Icahn and his Icahn Capital hedge fund released their 13Fs for the quarter ended March 31, 2009. Maybe the most interesting move was a raised stake in American Railcar (Nasdaq: ARII). Icahn also has a number of battles brewing in his positons in Amylin Pharmaceuticals Inc. (Nasdaq: AMLN), Lions Gate (NYSE: LGF), Biogen Idec (Nasdaq: BIIB) and Yahoo! (Nasdaq: YHOO).

Icahn Capital:

  • - Raises Stake in Amylin Pharmaceuticals Inc. (Nasdaq: AMLN) by 1.5 million shares to 12,971,328 shares (already known through 13D. Icahn trying to get 5 on board)
  • - Raises stake in Lions Gate (NYSE: LGF) by 4.47 million shares to 13,432,899 shares (already known through 13D. Icahn tender offer to debt)
  • - Raises stake in Take-Two (Nasdaq: TTWO) by 1.47 million shares to 2,007,445 shares
  • - Cuts stake in Williams Co (NYSE: WMB) by 17.12 million shares to 360,000 shares
  • - Liquidates 7.6 million share positon in Anadarko Petroleum Corp. (NYSE: APC)
  • - Liquidates 1.45 million share stake in Temple-Inland Inc. (NYSE: TIN)
  • - Maintains 60 million share stake in Yahoo! (Nasdaq: YHOO), which is the largest potion.
  • - Maintains 119.8 million share stake in Motorola (NYSE: MOT), which is the 2nd largest position
  • - Maintains 12.9 million share stake in Biogen Idec (Nasdaq: BIIB) which is the 3rd largest postion
Icahn, Carl:
  • - Raises Stake in American Railcar Industries (Nasdaq: ARII) by 5 million shares to 11,564,145 shares
  • - Raises stake in Lions Gate (NYSE: LGF) by 1.12 million shares to 3,358,226 shares (already known through 13D. Icahn tender offer to debt)
  • - Icahn Enterprises, L.P. (NYSE: IEP) is largest stake at $2 billion
