SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) -Tesla Inc CEO Elon Musk "lied" when he said that funding was "secured" to take the company private, a lawyer for Tesla investors said on Wednesday, as an attorney for Musk argued that the billionaire merely used the "wrong words" when he tweeted about his plans in 2018.

Investing.com -- The Dow snapped a four-day winning streak after closing lower Tuesday, paced by a rout in Goldman Sachs after the Wall Street banking giant delivered its worst earnings miss in a decade. 

The S&P 500 fell 0.2%, the Dow Jones Industrial Average slipped 1.14%, or 317 points, and the Nasdaq Composite was up 0.14%.

U.S. stocks mixed at close of trade; Dow Jones Industrial Average down 1.14%

Investing.com U.S. stocks were mixed after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Consumer Goods, Technology and Oil&Gas sectors led shares higher while losses in the Telecoms, Basic Materials and Consumer Services sectors led shares lower.

At the close in NYSE, the Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 1.14%, while the S&P 500 index lost 0.20%, and the NASDAQ Composite index added 0.14%.

Engineer testifies Tesla (TSLA) staged self-driving promotional video

Transcripts from a previously unreported testimony by Ashok Elluswamy, director of Autopilot software at Tesla, regarding a video made to promote the EV makers self-driving technology shows that the company staged the event to make it look like the vehicle was operating on its own. The transcripts come from a July deposition taken as evidence in a lawsuit against Tesla for a 2018 fatal crash. (Reuters) - A 2016 video that Tesla used to promote its self-driving technology was staged to show capabilities like stopping at a red light and accelerating at a green light that the system did not have, according to testimony by a senior engineer.

Tesla's retail sales in China surged after price cut -brokerage data

SHANGHAI (Reuters) - Tesla's retail sales surged in China in January after it slashed prices for its top-selling models earlier in the month, data compiled by China Merchants Bank International (CMBI) showed.
