(Reuters) - McDonald's Corp (NYSE: MCD) beat quarterly sales expectations at established U.S. restaurants on Friday, as the world's largest burger chain attracted more diners with upgraded stores and new promotions, such as the 2 for $5 Mix and Match deal.
The company's stock, a component of the blue-chip Dow Jones Industrial index , rose as much as 2% to a record high of $218.96, the third major restaurant chain to hit a peak this week.

(Reuters) - Robust earnings from Alphabet and Starbucks pushed the S&P 500 and Nasdaq indexes to record highs on Friday, with support from data showing U.S. economic growth slowed less than expected in the second quarter.
The U.S. Commerce Department said GDP increased at an annualized rate of 2.1% in the second quarter, higher than a 1.8% rate forecast by economists polled by Reuters.
