Sonoco (SON) Tops Q4 EPS by 3c, Revenues Miss; Offers Q1 & FY19 EPS Guidance
February 14, 2019 6:47 AM ESTSonoco (NYSE: SON) reported Q4 EPS of $0.84, $0.03 better than the analyst estimate of $0.81. Revenue for the quarter came in at $1.36 billion versus the consensus estimate of $1.36 billion.
Fourth-Quarter and Full-Year Highlights
Fourth-quarter 2018 GAAP earnings per diluted share were $0.77, compared with $0.06 in 2017. 2018 results include net after-tax charges of $0.07 per diluted share, related to restructuring activities, acquisitions, and certain other charges which were partially offset by non-base income tax benefits related to foreign tax credit valuation allowance releases and other non-base tax adjustments. DeLoach Jr. will retire as a director and as Executive Chairman in April of 2019. As part of its succession planning, the Board of Directors has named John R. Haley, current Vice Chairman, to be Chairman-elect.
