Markel Reports Third Quarter And Nine-Months Results
October 25, 2017 4:46 PM EDTRICHMOND, Va., Oct. 25, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Markel Corporation (NYSE: MKL) reported book value per common share outstanding of $641.20 at September 30, 2017, up 6% from $606.30 at December 31, 2016. Comprehensive loss to shareholders was $19.9 million for the third quarter of 2017 compared to comprehensive income of $89.2 million for the same period of 2016. Comprehensive income to shareholders was $545.7 million for the nine months ended September 30, 2017 compared to $696.1 million for the same period of 2016.
