SunTrust Reports Fourth Quarter and Full Year 2016 Results
January 20, 2017 6:00 AM ESTATLANTA, Jan. 20, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- SunTrust Banks, Inc. (NYSE: STI) reported net income available to common shareholders of $448 million, or $0.90 per average common diluted share. This compares to $0.91 for the prior quarter and $0.91 for the fourth quarter of 2015. For the full year, earnings per share increased 1% from $3.58 in 2015 to $3.60 in 2016 driven by strong revenue growth and higher capital returns, partially offset by a higher provision expense and higher noninterest expense.
