Westar Energy announces 2nd quarter 2016 results.
August 2, 2016 5:01 PM EDT       TOPEKA, Kan., Aug. 2, 2016 - Westar Energy, Inc. (NYSE: WR) today announced earnings of $72 million, or $0.51 per share, for the second quarter 2016 compared with earnings of $64 million, or $0.47 per share, for the second quarter 2015. Earnings for the six months ended June 30, 2016 were $138 million, or $0.97 per share, compared with $115 million, or $0.85 per share, for the same period in 2015.
