3M Co. (MMM) Announces $34M Contract Modification for U.S. Army Body Armor
October 13, 2015 9:01 AM EDTAs the U.S. Armed Forces seek to improve agility and mobility, the U.S. Army is making great efforts to reduce the weight soldiers must carry without sacrificing protection. Body armor is vital to that effort. Ceradyne, Inc., a 3M company (NYSE: MMM), received a contract modification worth $34 million from the Army to provide 28,000 pieces of body armor under the Soldier Protection Systems Vital Torso Protection program for lightweight enhanced small arms protective inserts (ESAPI).
