American Express First Quarter EPS of $1.48, up 11% from a Year Ago; Higher Card Member Spending and Loans Drive Core Performance; Operating Expenses Remain Well Controlled
April 16, 2015 4:02 PM EDTNEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- American Express Company (NYSE: AXP) today reported first-quarter net income of $1.5 billion, up 6 percent from $1.4 billion a year ago. Diluted earnings per share rose 11 percent to $1.48, from $1.33 a year ago.
