Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) will begin shipping its Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2 largely by the end of October. That is, unless you want gobs of memory included in your tablet.
CNET observed today that Surface Pro 2 tablets with 256- or 512-gigabytes of memory included in the tablet won't be shipped out to customers who preordered the device until December 15th. By comparison, Surface Pre 2 tablets with 64- and 128-GB of memory will begin shipping on October 21st and October 25th, respectively.
Microsoft originally scheduled launch of the devices for October 22nd.
It wasn't made immediately clear why such a gap in shipping times, though the obvious answer would be issues in procuring large memory stacks.
Microsoft is positive in early trading Tuesday.
