BlackBerry (Nasdaq: BBRY) is moving to offer itts BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) as a preloaded app on rival handsets, according to CNET.
BlackBerry previously conveyed that BBM would appear on Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) Android and Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) iOS devices this summer.
BlackBerry Chief Operating Officer Kristian Tear, speaking with CNET, declined to provide information on when the cross-platform launch would happen.
The latest data has BBM with 61 million active users and 70 percent using the service daily.
Shares of BlackBerry ended the session up about 0.7 percent.
