Apple (AAPL) Lags Only Samsung as Top Smartphone OEM in U.S. Though Nov. - comScore

The fight for mobile dominance in the U.S. is ferocious. Just ask Samsung, Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL), Research In Motion (Nasdaq: RIMM), HTC, etc.
According to comScore (Nasdaq: SCOR), Samsung retained the lead as top smartphone OEM in the U.S. for the three months ended November 2012. Samsung's overall market share grew 1.2 points to 26.9 percent.
Apple leapfrogged over LG for second OEM spot, gaining 1.4 points to 18.5 percent. Apple was the best performer of the top five, comScore data shows.
LG dropped 0.7 points to 17.5 percent, Google's (Nasdaq: GOOG) Motorola fell 0.8 points to 10.4 percent, and HTC slipped 0.4 points to 5.9 percent.
Of the top smartphone platforms, Google's Android retained the top spot, gaining 1.1 points for a 53.7 percent share. Apple's iOS rose 0.7 points to 35.0 percent, RIM fell 1.0 point to 7.3 percent, Microsoft dropped 0.6 percent to 3.0 percent, and Symbian moved 0.2 percent lower for just a 0.5 percent share.
Notably, text messaging was stil the most popular use of data, improving 0.3 points to 75.9 percent of all mobile subs.
