SoundThinking, Inc. (Nasdaq: SSTI) announced the general availability of its SafetySmart Field Agent tool to all ShotSpotter agencies, transitioning from a beta program that launched in June 2026 with more than 20 agencies.
The company is offering Field Agent to ShotSpotter agencies at no additional charge for up to 20 users per agency during the first year.
Field Agent allows public safety personnel to query ShotSpotter data using natural-language questions, generating maps, charts, incident summaries, and draft briefings. The tool is designed to reduce manual data analysis tasks for agency personnel.
"Field Agent represents a new way for public safety professionals to put ShotSpotter intelligence to work," said Ralph Clark, President and CEO of SoundThinking. "By making it easier to analyze gunfire activity, uncover patterns and generate actionable insights, we're helping agencies make faster, better-informed decisions."
Detective Lucas Roethlisberger of the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department's Intelligence Unit said the tool allows his team to "ask questions directly, identify patterns, and get useful insights much faster" without waiting for analysts to build reports.
SoundThinking said it is also developing Field Agent Skills, a feature that would allow agencies to save reusable instructions for recurring tasks such as shift briefings and incident summaries.
The company said it is testing integration with additional data sources, including computer-aided dispatch and records management systems. Integration with CrimeTracer, its law enforcement search engine used by over 2,100 agencies, is planned for beta availability in November 2026, with general availability targeted for early 2027.
SoundThinking noted that human review and decision-making remain central to the Field Agent workflow, with interpretation and operational decisions remaining with authorized personnel.
