Cheniere Energy (NYSE: LNG) announced that its subsidiaries have entered into long-term liquefied natural gas sale and purchase agreements with QatarEnergy to supply a total of 4 million tonnes per annum through 2054.
Under the agreements, QatarEnergy will purchase 2 mtpa of LNG from each of Cheniere's Sabine Pass Liquefaction and Corpus Christi Liquefaction subsidiaries on a free-on-board basis, at a price indexed to the Henry Hub price plus a fixed fee.
Deliveries are scheduled to begin in the early 2030s and run through the end of 2054. One mtpa of the Sabine Pass portion is contingent on a positive Final Investment Decision for the first phase of the Sabine Pass Expansion Project.
The Sabine Pass Expansion Project is being developed through Cheniere Energy Partners (NYSE: CQP) and is expected to have a total peak production capacity of up to approximately 20 mtpa of LNG. The first phase, which includes a single Train 7 and a boil-off gas re-liquefaction unit, is expected to produce over 6 mtpa. In May 2026, Cheniere signed a lump sum, turnkey engineering, procurement, and construction contract with Bechtel Energy for the first phase, with Bechtel authorized to begin early engineering and procurement.
"These pivotal, multi-decade agreements with QatarEnergy... represent a major long-term commercial commitment," said Jack Fusco, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Cheniere.
