Nano Nuclear Energy signs engineering deal with IMPSA for reactor parts

October 21, 2026 8:01 AM EDT

Nano Nuclear Energy Inc. (NASDAQ: NNE) has signed a three-year Engineering Services Master Agreement (ESMA) with the U.S. subsidiary of IMPSA, an Argentine engineering and heavy-manufacturing company, to support engineering and potential fabrication of components for its Kronos MMR Energy System, according to a press release.

Under the agreement, the two companies will begin with a six-month design review and manufacturability feasibility study, supported by a retainer. IMPSA will conduct an independent review of Kronos MMR components against ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Section III requirements. The reactor pressure vessel has been identified as a principal component under evaluation, with reactor cavity cooling systems, spent-fuel storage systems and transportation components cited as additional areas of potential collaboration.

IMPSA holds ASME N and ASME III N stamps, certifications the agreement describes as held by few companies in Latin America, covering engineering and construction of Class 1 heavy nuclear components.

The feasibility study aims to identify fabrication constraints, inspection limitations, supply-chain risks and design improvements ahead of potential future manufacturing. Work may extend to detailed engineering drawings, code-compliant calculations and 3D models.

"Advanced reactors have to move from drawings and calculations to modular components that can be manufactured repeatedly, inspected, qualified and assembled," said James Walker, Chief Executive Officer of Nano Nuclear Energy.

The agreement is non-exclusive. Any future component fabrication or commercial activities beyond the initial engineering scope will be subject to additional agreements and applicable regulatory requirements, the company stated.

The Kronos MMR is a stationary high-temperature gas-cooled reactor currently in construction permit pre-application engagement with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, in collaboration with the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
