Visa launches fraud tools and AI agent pilot for B2B payments

October 21, 2026 7:01 AM EDT

Visa (NYSE: V) announced three new capabilities for commercial payments, targeting financial institutions, fintechs and businesses seeking to automate payment processes.

The first offering, SESA 2.0, is an updated version of Visa's Supplier Enablement Spend Analytics platform. The tool uses AI-driven supplier scoring and business-value modeling to help financial institutions identify suppliers likely to accept commercial card payments. Visa said SESA has identified more than $600 billion in potential cardable spend since its launch.

The second offering, Visa Commercial Fraud Solutions, is a suite of tools designed to strengthen security in commercial virtual card payments. It includes supplier validation, 3-D Secure authentication for virtual card users and transaction-level controls covering spend limits, merchant category, location and timing. Visa Commercial Payment Controls are currently available in supported markets, while the supplier validation and authentication tools are in pilot and expected to be generally available in 2027.

The third announcement is a live pilot with BILL and Billtrust that allows AI agents to initiate and complete approved business invoice payments through supplier portals. The pilot uses Visa's Trusted Agent Protocol and tokenized payment credentials rather than shared login credentials. Visa said the pilot is currently processing end-to-end transactions with participating BILL customers and Billtrust suppliers.

"Businesses are moving quickly to automate the work around payments, from identifying supplier opportunities to approving invoices and executing transactions," said Darren Parslow, global head of Visa Commercial Solutions.

Juniper Research projects global B2B virtual card payment volume will reach $14.6 trillion by 2029, representing 83% of the global virtual card market, according to the company's statement.
