Southern California Edison (NYSE: EIX) is alerting Eaton Fire-affected community members of a Nov. 30, 2026, deadline to submit claims through its voluntary Wildfire Recovery Compensation Program.
As of Oct. 20, 2026, more than 5,300 claims had been submitted, representing over 16,250 individuals, trusts and legal entities. More than 3,100 offers totaling nearly $1.1 billion have been extended, with nearly 80% accepted and about 2% declined. Nearly 4,200 claimants have been paid a combined total of more than $580 million.
The program is designed to provide compensation aligned with settlement values from past wildfire lawsuits. On average, offers are delivered within 36 days of a substantially complete claim submission, with payments made within 30 days after all settlement conditions are met.
"Every family and business is facing different circumstances as they navigate recovery," said Pedro J. Pizarro, president and CEO of Edison International, SCE's parent company. "We want community members to understand the program and be aware of the November 30 deadline as they consider what path is right for them."
Claimants also have the option to pursue litigation. For personal injury or wrongful death claims, California law generally provides a two-year statute of limitations, with an Eaton Fire-related deadline potentially as early as Jan. 7, 2027. For property damage claims, a three-year statute of limitations applies, with a potential deadline as early as Jan. 7, 2028. SCE noted that some claims from 2017 and 2018 wildfires remain unresolved.
SCE will host information sessions on Oct. 28, Nov. 12 and Nov. 19, 2026, offered both virtually and in person. This information is based on a press release issued by Southern California Edison.
