Intuit (NASDAQ: INTU) has launched Credit Karma Tax, a tax filing product offering $0 federal filing and a flat $15 per-state filing fee, regardless of tax complexity, according to a company statement.
The product is available through the Credit Karma website and app. Members who deposit their refund into a Credit Karma Checking account can receive federal tax refunds up to five days early at no charge. A refund advance loan of up to $4,000 with no loan fees and 0% APR is planned for the Tax Year 2026 filing season, subject to terms and eligibility.
Credit Karma Tax includes automated form importing from employers and financial institutions, covering stock sales and crypto transactions, as well as photo capture for tax documents. The product runs accuracy checks before submission and carries a 100% accuracy guarantee, with Intuit covering penalties and interest if a calculation error results in an IRS or state penalty.
Optional paid add-ons include an Expert Support Bundle priced at $29, which covers audit defense, identity protection, live product support, and the ability to pay the state filing fee from a refund. An Expert Final Review option is available for $39. Both prices are subject to change.
"By adding transparent, free Federal filing specifically tailored to our members, no matter how complex their tax situation, we are expanding Credit Karma's role as their daily AI-powered financial assistant," said Mark Notarainni, Executive Vice President and General Manager, Consumer Group, Intuit.
The product also includes AI-driven tools described as agents: a Refund Agent to direct refunds toward debt, savings, or investments; a Debt Agent that builds personalized paydown plans; and a Paycheck Agent to allocate income across financial goals. Additional features, including Explanation and Error Agents, are listed as coming soon.
Pricing and program terms are subject to change, and eligibility criteria may apply to certain features.
