Actor Robert Downey Jr. has joined SPECS, a subsidiary of Snap Inc., as honorary Chief Customer Experience Officer (CCEO), according to a statement from the company.

In the role, Downey Jr. will work with the SPECS team on original content, augmented reality Lens experiences, and hardware collaborations. SPECS produces augmented reality glasses that allow users to interact with digital content through hand gestures and voice commands.

"Trying is believing. Having tested practically every wearable tech that's come to market in the last 20 years, and been largely unimpressed, I was absolutely sold on SPECS within 40 seconds," Downey Jr. said in the statement.

Evan Spiegel, co-founder and CEO of Snap Inc., said the company welcomes Downey Jr. to help shape the direction of augmented reality development.

As part of his first project in the role, Downey Jr. is launching a series of original episodes demonstrating uses of SPECS AR glasses, covering areas such as workspace organization, golf instruction, entertainment, and art. The episodes are available on the SPECS website and YouTube.

Snap said the partnership will make its broadcast debut during the New York Knicks vs. Philadelphia 76ers Tip-Off game, with an additional episode set to air during Game 1 of the World Series.

Snap Inc. (NYSE: SNAP) operates Snapchat and SPECS Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary, along with other digital services including Bitmoji and Saturn.
