AGCO (NYSE: AGCO) has signed a commercial agreement with Agility Robotics to deploy a humanoid robot at its Hesston, Kansas, manufacturing facility, with the pilot program expected to begin in 2027, according to a press release from the companies.
Agility Robotics' Digit robot will initially handle parts sorting and stacking, as well as placement of totes for storage. The robot is designed to perform repetitive and physically demanding tasks in manufacturing environments.
"This strategic relationship views humanoid robotics and AI as essential 'teammates' in building flexible, intelligent factories," said Thomas Enghof, AGCO's Director of Manufacturing Technology. "They unlock automation in complex, human-centric workflows, augmenting human capabilities by absorbing repetitive, strenuous or hazardous tasks."
Digit operates alongside Agility Arc, a cloud-based platform for deploying and managing robot fleets, which the companies say allows integration without requiring extensive infrastructure changes.
Other companies that have deployed Agility's Digit robot include Toyota, GXO, and Schaeffler.
Agility Robotics is currently pursuing a path to becoming a public company through a planned business combination with Churchill Capital Corp XI (Nasdaq: CCXI). That transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026, after which the combined company is expected to trade on Nasdaq under the ticker symbol "AGLT."
