Garmin (NYSE: GRMN) has launched the Tacx Nēra, an indoor smart trainer priced at $999.99, according to a company press release. The device is available now in two configurations: a standard version with a preinstalled cassette and a Zwift Ready version with a preinstalled Zwift Cog and Click.

The trainer features built-in motion pods that provide forward, backward and side-to-side movement. Power and cadence measurements are accurate to within 1%, and the unit can simulate grades up to 20% while supporting sprint efforts up to 2,200 watts.

Both versions carry the same $999.99 suggested retail price. The Zwift Ready option includes seamless virtual shifting compatibility with Zwift and ROUVY, the latter requiring an active subscription. New Zwift subscribers who purchase the Zwift Ready version are eligible for a free Zwift membership offer.

The trainer includes built-in Wi-Fi and connects to the Tacx Training app, which provides access to free workouts. A premium plan, offered free for 45 days with purchase, adds access to real-world courses, challenges and badges. The device also integrates with Garmin's Edge cycling computers, Garmin Connect app and compatible smartwatches.

A race mode feature is included for use during virtual racing sessions in select training apps. The Tacx Nēra is also compatible with the separately sold Tacx Alpine gradient simulator.
