L3Harris Technologies (NYSE: LHX) has received an undefinitized contract modification from the U.S. Navy valued at $876,440,942 for the engineering and manufacturing phase of the Next Generation Jammer Low Band program (NGJ-LB), according to a company press release.
The contract supports an accelerated development timeline for the NGJ-LB system, which is designed to disrupt enemy radar and communications using airborne electronic attack capabilities. Work will be performed in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Under the award, L3Harris will deliver tooling and equipment, system demonstration test article pods, cybersecurity and system security development, and software support to the U.S. Naval Air Systems Command.
Chris Aebli, President of Communications and Spectrum Dominance at L3Harris, said the program "enhances the ability to counter adversaries operating in lower-frequency bands."
The NGJ-LB system is designed to operate with joint and allied forces and features a modular, open-system architecture intended to allow future technology integration. The program builds on L3Harris's existing work on the Navy's AN/ALQ-99 Tactical Jamming System.
