Marqeta (NASDAQ: MQ) announced it is now enabling the Square Credit Card, a business credit card for sellers issued by Celtic Bank on the American Express network, extending its existing relationship with Block, Inc. that began in 2019 with Square's debit card program.
With the addition of the credit card program, Square has consolidated its debit, prepaid, and credit card programs onto Marqeta's single platform. Marqeta said its portfolio migration capabilities allowed existing Square Credit Card accounts to move to its platform without disrupting the cardholder experience.
"Square sellers depend on both credit and debit to run their businesses, and consolidating those programs onto Marqeta's platform means we can move faster and safer on the products they need," said Andrea Raj, Head of Product for Square Banking at Block. "Migrating our existing cardholders without any disruption to their experience was critical, and Marqeta delivered."
The Square Credit Card provides sellers with a credit line tied to their business volume. The Square Debit Card, launched with Marqeta in 2019, is issued by Sutton Bank on the Mastercard network.
Marqeta's platform includes card issuance and transaction processing, underwriting, rewards management, risk controls, and disputes. The company reported processing nearly $400 billion in annual payments volume in 2025 and operates in more than 40 countries.
