International Paper Company (NYSE: IP) confirmed it is evaluating unsolicited inbound inquiries regarding a possible sale of its EMEA Packaging Business and is in discussions with potential bidders, according to a company statement.
The company said the process is at an early stage and there is no certainty that any sale will be agreed upon or completed. International Paper is simultaneously progressing a previously announced spin-off of the business while evaluating the potential sale.
On January 29, 2026, the company announced that its EMEA Packaging Business was expected to be separated through a spin-off. On October 14, 2026, International Paper confirmed the spin-off was expected to be executed through a listing on the London Stock Exchange, with a Level II ADR program to be listed on the New York Stock Exchange.
The company said no assurance can be provided regarding the ultimate timing or structure of the proposed separation of the EMEA Packaging Business. The statement noted recent movement in the company's share price and press speculation as the context for the disclosure.
International Paper also confirmed it will host a DS Smith Capital Markets Day on November 3, 2026, in connection with the spin-off, as previously announced on October 14, 2026.
