Hertz Car Sales has expanded its extended test-drive program, now called TestDrive+, to more than 300 participating Hertz neighborhood rental locations across the United States, according to a company statement.
The program, previously known as Rent2Buy, allows shoppers to take a vehicle home for up to three days before deciding whether to purchase it. Customers pay a daily drive fee during the trial period, which Hertz waives if the shopper buys the vehicle.
Jeff Adams, Executive Vice President of Hertz Car Sales, said: "Buying a car is a big decision, and customers have told us they want more time and flexibility to get it right. By bringing TestDrive+ to more Hertz neighborhood rental locations, we're making it easier for shoppers to experience a vehicle on their terms and choose with confidence."
Hertz Car Sales cited internal research indicating that 59% of used-car buyers would seek out or use a three-day test drive before making a purchase. The research was conducted in 2026.
The majority of vehicles eligible for the TestDrive+ program are 2025 or 2026 models. Eligible vehicles include a 3-year/100,000-mile limited powertrain warranty at no additional charge, subject to program terms and eligibility requirements.
Shoppers can browse eligible vehicles on HertzCarSales.com and schedule a pickup at a Hertz Car Sales location or a participating neighborhood rental location. Vehicles are also available for purchase through Amazon Autos and eBay.
