Venture Global signs agreements with GE Vernova, Baker Hughes for power expansion

October 15, 2026 6:02 AM EDT

Venture Global, Inc. (NYSE: VG) has entered into power and grid frame agreements with GE Vernova and Baker Hughes Energy Services for up to 16 new 720 MW power island units and associated transformer equipment, according to a company press release.

The agreements are intended to support the expansion of Venture Global's existing behind-the-meter, grid-independent power network and provide a pathway to develop up to 10 gigawatts of new compute capacity at sites owned or controlled by the company. The company anticipates it could develop that capacity by the end of 2034, subject to customer commitments and market demand.

The new power island units would use combined cycle gas turbines in configurations consistent with Venture Global's existing infrastructure. The company currently operates approximately 4.5 gigawatts of modular, gas-fired generation across its liquefied natural gas facilities, with 6 power islands ordered, under construction, or operating.

Venture Global expects to place its first power island purchase order by the end of 2026. Additional units would be ordered through future reservation agreements or purchase orders based on operational and commercial needs.

The company said any third-party development for island-mode power capacity would be separate from its LNG operations and would not affect existing LNG sales agreements or other commercial commitments.

Venture Global said it will file its first permit applications with federal, state, and local regulators this week to begin the permitting process for the expansion.

CEO Mike Sabel said the company's existing power generation platform "is not reliant on the grid and reliably runs completely behind-the-meter," describing the expansion as a natural extension of its current operations.

Venture Global is an LNG producer and exporter with facilities in Louisiana along the Gulf of America, including Calcasieu Pass, Plaquemines LNG, and CP2 LNG.
