Organigram targets $8M-$10M in savings with global restructuring
Organigram Global Inc. (NASDAQ: OGI) announced the completion of its integration of Sanity Group GmbH and the adoption of a unified global operating model, with expected annualized cost savings of $8 million to $10 million by fiscal 2027.
According to the company's press release, the savings will comprise approximately $4.5 million to $5.5 million in selling, general and administrative expenses and $3.5 million to $4.5 million in operating costs. The company expects to realize $5 million to $6 million of those savings in fiscal 2027 as changes are phased in, with the full annualized benefit reflected in fiscal 2028. One-time integration costs are projected at $2 million in fiscal 2027.
The restructuring consolidates global functions including Finance, Legal, People & Culture and Technology under common standards. A single Global Operations organization will oversee production, quality, supply chain and cost control. Adrian Frenzel has been appointed Chief Operating Officer to lead that division.
Organigram also plans to discontinue three brands and reduce its overall product assortment in fiscal 2027, concentrating investment on three core brands: SHRED, BOXHOT and Big Bag O' Buds. The company said a simplified portfolio is expected to reduce manufacturing complexity, working capital and overhead costs.
In the third quarter of fiscal 2026, SG&A as a percentage of net revenue declined to approximately 31%, which the company described as its lowest level in at least two years.
"Today's actions deliver on that. We expect them to lower our cost base and improve the profitability of our business, and operating as a unified global enterprise gives us clearer accountability and a structure that can scale," said James Yamanaka, Chief Executive Officer of Organigram.
Organigram operates cannabis production facilities in Moncton, New Brunswick; Lac Supérieur, Quebec; Winnipeg, Manitoba; and two sites in Southwestern Ontario. The company participates in the German medical cannabis market through its Sanity Group subsidiary.
