Nebius Group NV stock dropped 9.5% in morning trading Wednesday, as rising bond yields at peer company CoreWeave, put into spotlight by a tweet from Elon Musk, sparked concerns across the AI infrastructure sector.
The decline followed a sharp increase in CoreWeave's bond yields, which prompted a "Yikes" comment from Elon Musk that circulated widely among investors. The reaction triggered a broader reassessment of financing risks at companies with high debt levels in the AI buildout space.
Nebius faced additional pressure from recent regulatory filings showing insider stock sales. The company's chief operating officer sold 500,000 shares in early October, while the chief revenue officer sold 7,000 shares on Friday under a pre-arranged Rule 10b5-1 plan.
Investor Michael Burry replaced a short position with leveraged put options on Nebius stock, reflecting a negative outlook on AI infrastructure valuations.
