Calian wins CAD$47M NATO training contract in Norway
Calian Group Ltd. (TSX: CGY) has been awarded a five-year contract valued at approximately CAD$47 million to continue providing scenario development support to the NATO Joint Warfare Centre (JWC) in Stavanger, Norway, according to a press release from the Ottawa-based company.
The contract was awarded through a competitive procurement process and extends Calian's existing relationship with the JWC. Under the agreement, Calian will support the design, development and maintenance of training scenarios used in NATO's strategic and operational-level exercises.
Calian currently serves as a prime contractor for the JWC, providing subject matter expertise for operational and strategic-level exercises. The company's work involves integrating political, military, economic, civil and information factors into training environments that evolve throughout exercises.
Roch Pelletier, Calian's Regional Vice President of Defence, said in the statement: "The security environment is changing quickly and NATO forces need training that reflects the complexity, uncertainty and pace of modern operations. The award reflects NATO's continued confidence in our people and our expertise."
The NATO Joint Warfare Centre supports the preparation of NATO headquarters and forces for current and future operations through exercises and experimentation.
