NUE Power adds former Canadian minister Tony Clement to its board

NUE Power Corp. (CSE: NUE, OTC Pink: NUEPF, FSE: NUE1) announced the appointment of former Canadian cabinet minister Tony Clement to its board of directors, effective October 14, 2026, according to a company statement.

Clement served as a Member of Parliament from 2006 to 2019 and held several senior federal cabinet roles, including Minister of Health, Minister of Industry, and President of the Treasury Board. He also served as a cabinet minister in the Government of Ontario. He currently chairs the Advisory Board of the SMR Forum, an organization focused on small modular reactor deployment in Canada and internationally.

NUE said the appointment supports its focus on power development in Saskatchewan and the Prairie provinces. The company secured a development property in the Regina region in August 2026, though that transaction has not yet closed. NUE does not currently hold an interest in any nuclear or small modular reactor project.

In September 2026, the Government of Saskatchewan released a plan outlining a transition from coal-fired generation to nuclear power, targeting at least 2,600 megawatts of nuclear generation by 2050 and further study of small modular reactors near Estevan.

NUE also holds a proposed project in Mongolia, the Darkhan Energy Park, which is described as 600 MW of coal-fired generation and 100 MW of battery storage at an early stage of development.

"As NUE deepens its presence in Saskatchewan and across the Prairies, nuclear and SMR technology is increasingly part of the conversation on how new power gets built," said CEO Broderick Gunning.

Clement said his experience aligning governments, communities, and capital is where he expects to contribute most to the board.
