MetLife (NYSE: MET) has launched a ChatGPT plugin for its pet insurance product, allowing users to obtain personalized quotes and complete applications through a conversational interface before being directed to the MetLife Pet Insurance website to finalize a purchase.
The company claims to be the first major pet insurer to support conversational input of pet insurance applications through a ChatGPT plugin. The plugin is available now and can be found by searching "MetLife Pet Insurance" in the ChatGPT Plugin Library.
"This is about using innovation to remove friction from an important financial decision," said Todd Katz, head of Group Benefits at MetLife. "By bringing MetLife Pet Insurance to ChatGPT, we're creating a simpler, more intuitive path to coverage for pet parents."
According to data cited by MetLife, one-third of employees worry about affording pet care, while fewer than one in 10 have pet insurance. The company also reported that seven in 10 pet owners say they have delayed or skipped veterinary care due to cost, and more than one-third say their pet's condition worsened as a result.
