Calian wins CAD$47M NATO scenario development contract
Calian Group Ltd. (TSX: CGY) has been awarded a five-year contract valued at approximately CAD$47 million to continue providing scenario development support to the NATO Joint Warfare Centre (JWC) in Stavanger, Norway, according to a company press release.
The contract was awarded through a competitive procurement process and extends Calian's existing relationship with the JWC. Under the agreement, Calian will support the design, development and maintenance of training scenarios used in NATO's strategic and operational-level exercises.
Calian currently serves as a prime contractor for the JWC, providing subject matter expertise for operational and strategic-level exercises. The scenarios the company develops incorporate political, military, economic, civil and information factors intended to simulate complex operating environments for commanders and staff.
Roch Pelletier, Calian's Regional Vice President of Defence, said: "The security environment is changing quickly and NATO forces need training that reflects the complexity, uncertainty and pace of modern operations. The award reflects NATO's continued confidence in our people and our expertise."
The NATO Joint Warfare Centre supports the preparation of NATO headquarters and forces for current and future operations through exercises and experimentation.
Calian is headquartered in Ottawa, Canada, and employs more than 6,000 people worldwide. The company operates across defence, space, healthcare and other sectors.
