L3Harris Technologies (NYSE: LHX) has begun delivering its VAMPIRE counter-unmanned systems to the U.S. Army, with initial units arriving within two months of a $106 million Army order, according to a company press release.
The VAMPIRE system is a self-contained weapons platform designed for reconnaissance and precision strike against drones and other remotely piloted aircraft. The system has logged more than 350,000 operational hours since 2023, primarily in support of European combat operations.
"From day one, our team has worked side-by-side with the Army to rapidly field VAMPIRE systems," said Chris Aebli, President of Communications & Spectrum Dominance at L3Harris. "U.S. armed forces are now equipped to reliably defend personnel and vital assets against drone threats."
Earlier this year, L3Harris opened a dedicated VAMPIRE production facility in Huntsville, Alabama, to support domestic and international demand for counter-unmanned systems capabilities.
