Workday, Inc. (NASDAQ: WDAY) announced that Workday Decision Intelligence is now available across its portfolio, giving HR and finance teams an AI-based tool that draws on live data within the Workday platform to support business decisions.
The product, announced at Workday Rising 2026 in Las Vegas on Oct. 13, allows users to ask questions in plain language and receive answers based on live workforce and financial data, compare scenarios, and take action within existing Workday permissions and approval workflows.
Decision Intelligence is now available to Workday Human Capital Management (HCM) and Workday Financial Management customers. A version for Adaptive from Workday, aimed at financial planning and analysis teams, was previously available and continues to be offered to those customers.
For HR teams, the tool is designed to help evaluate workforce decisions such as hiring plans, skills gaps, attrition risk, and organization design by incorporating cost, timing, and risk data. For finance teams, it targets use cases including revenue variance analysis, margin pressure, forecast variance, and close reconciliation.
James Choi, global head of finance transformation and procurement at Unity Technologies, said the tool is "already helping us close the gap between analysis and execution, from quickly investigating revenue variances to streamlining the monthly post-close outlook deck we build for our CFO."
Ben Pierce, general manager of Adaptive from Workday, said the product allows HR and finance teams to "evaluate workforce and financial trade-offs together, then move approved actions forward through the data, permissions, and business processes that already run the enterprise."
According to the company's press release, the tool aims to replace the common practice of exporting data from separate HR and finance systems into spreadsheets, which can result in outdated or inconsistent information by the time decisions are made.
