Fastly (NASDAQ: FSLY) announced an expansion of its partnership with Jio Platforms Limited to enhance JioCDN, a content delivery network built on Jio's infrastructure in India, according to a press release from the company.
JioCDN, which runs on Jio's network spanning 5G and fixed broadband across India, is powered by Fastly's edge cloud platform. The service is available to businesses across India, from major cities to smaller towns.
The platform has been used by several Reliance group properties, including JioHotstar, AJIO, and JioTV. It has also been used to stream large live events, including Indian Premier League matches and the ICC T20 World Cup 2026.
"India is one of the world's most exciting and demanding digital markets, and JPL is an ideal partner to bring Fastly's edge platform to this rapidly expanding market," said Scott Lovett, President of Go to Market at Fastly.
"India's digital economy is growing at an unprecedented pace, and our partnership with Fastly enables us to provide the platform businesses need to offer seamless digital experiences to end customers," said Arvind Tiwari, Chief Digital Services Officer at Jio Platforms Limited.
Akash Saxena, Chief Technology Officer at JioHotstar, said the platform removes complexity when delivering content to large audiences. "When you're streaming to tens of millions of concurrent viewers, you can't afford to troubleshoot latency or chase down security gaps," Saxena said.
