Tilray Medical gets Portugal lab approval for in-house cannabis testing

October 13, 2026 7:04 AM EDT

Tilray Brands, Inc. (Nasdaq: TLRY) announced that its Tilray Medical division has received approval from INFARMED, Portugal's National Authority of Medicines and Health Products, to conduct microbiological and chemical/physical quality control testing at its EU-GMP-certified facility in Cantanhede, Portugal.

The authorization allows Tilray Medical to perform testing on-site rather than relying on third-party laboratories for flower lot analysis. According to the company, this is expected to reduce batch-release costs, shorten testing timelines, and accelerate the movement of product from harvest to release across international markets including Germany, the United Kingdom, Poland, and Italy.

Rajnish Ohri, President of International at Tilray Brands, said: "It gives us greater speed, control, and flexibility across our international supply chain while reinforcing the infrastructure and technical expertise required to serve patients, physicians, pharmacies, and commercial partners with trusted medical cannabis products in high-standard markets around the world."

The Cantanhede facility serves as a production and supply hub for Tilray Medical's international operations. The company also cited an expansion of Tilray Medical-branded cannabis medicines in the United Kingdom through Lyphe Clinic and Lyphe Dispensary as part of its broader international activity.

The information above is based on a press release statement issued by Tilray Brands.
