L3Harris wins $250M Lockheed Martin rocket motor contract

October 12, 2026 10:00 AM EDT

L3Harris Technologies (NYSE: LHX) has been awarded a $250 million follow-on contract from Lockheed Martin to manufacture standard-range Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System (GMLRS) propulsion units, according to a press release from the company.

The contract represents the highest production quantity in the GMLRS program's history, according to L3Harris. The company has served as the program's solid rocket motor provider for decades and also manufactures the electronic safe-and-arm device and proximity sensor for the system.

Production will take place at a new 60,000-square-foot facility called the Arsenal of Freedom in Camden, Arkansas, scheduled to open later this year. The facility is designed to centralize production using automation and robotics across solid rocket motor manufacturing stages.

Scott Alexander, President of Propulsion Systems at Missile Solutions for L3Harris, said in the statement: "With our investments to expand capacity ahead of need, we're well-positioned to meet this surge while maintaining the quality our customers expect."

L3Harris said it has doubled GMLRS solid rocket motor output in recent years through advanced manufacturing techniques, expanding capacity for the U.S. and allied partners.
