Teradyne launches UltraFLEXplus S series for edge AI testing

October 12, 2026 9:02 AM EDT

Teradyne, Inc. (NASDAQ: TER) announced the launch of the UltraFLEXplus S series, a new line of semiconductor test systems designed for high-mix, variable-volume manufacturing targeting edge AI applications.

The first model, the UltraFLEXplus S24, is a 24-slot, single-module system intended for both engineering and production use. According to the company, it is aimed at integrated device manufacturers (IDMs) and outsourced semiconductor assembly and test (OSAT) providers.

The S series sits alongside the existing quad-module UltraFLEXplus Q series within Teradyne's UltraFLEXplus platform. The new system shares the same instrument module ecosystem, IG-XL software environment, and test program library as the Q series, allowing customers to reuse existing test development assets.

The UltraFLEXplus S24 supports tri-temperature testing and covers microcontrollers, multimedia, and edge AI devices across automotive, industrial, and consumer markets.

"Floor space is one of the biggest hidden costs in high-mix manufacturing, and UltraFLEXplus S is built to optimize it," said Roy Chorev, vice president and general manager of the Compute Test division at Teradyne. "As AI moves from the data center to the edge, customers need a platform that fits their facilities today and scales with them tomorrow, without giving up the rigor and reliability they already trust from UltraFLEXplus."

Teradyne said the system is engineered to maximize utilization, overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), and output per unit of floor space. The company describes the UltraFLEXplus S24 as an entry point into the broader UltraFLEXplus platform architecture, with additional S series models implied for future release.

Teradyne plans to demonstrate the product at SEMICON West, October 13–15, 2026, in San Francisco, and at the IEEE International Test Conference, October 11–16, in San Antonio.
