AMC Entertainment Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: AMC) has launched AMC Movie Trivia Game Show, a mobile game developed in partnership with Hoyt Games and puzzle creator David L. Hoyt, according to a press release from the company.
The app is available as a free download on the Apple App Store, Google Play, and Amazon Appstore. It features four new movie-themed puzzles each day, along with thousands of additional trivia challenges. Players solve puzzles by identifying a single "solve word" drawn from topics including movie history, characters, quotes, franchises, and filmmakers.
The game integrates with AMC Stubs, the company's loyalty program, offering in-game bonuses and puzzle-solving benefits to members.
Ellen Copaken, SVP of Business Development at AMC, said the app "reflects our continued focus on finding new ways to connect and engage with moviegoers beyond the auditorium while creating additional value for AMC Stubs members."
David L. Hoyt, who created the puzzle format used in the game, is also the author of Jumble and the inventor of USA TODAY Word Roundup and USA TODAY Up & Down Words. He founded the David L. Hoyt Education Foundation, which promotes play-based learning.
AMC operates approximately 850 theatres and 9,600 screens globally and describes itself as the largest movie exhibition company in the United States and worldwide.
