Amentum has opened its Global Nuclear headquarters at 151 Lafayette Drive in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, establishing a centralized hub for the company's international nuclear business operations, according to a press release.
The facility, which houses Amentum's Nuclear Center of Excellence, employs more than 150 subject-matter experts. Amentum already operates in the region as the lead partner in United Cleanup Oak Ridge (UCOR), the U.S. Department of Energy's prime environmental management contractor for the Oak Ridge Reservation.
Alongside the headquarters opening, Amentum launched the Amentum Nuclear Scholars Program, a scholarship initiative connecting Roane State Community College and the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. The company committed $500,000 over five years toward curriculum development and scholarships at both institutions. Combined with other Amentum-led STEM sponsorships in the Oak Ridge area, total student support for the two institutions exceeds $1 million, the company said.
The program's first student cohort is expected to launch in late 2026, with integration of international academic partners planned for fall 2027.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held to mark the opening, attended by CEO John Heller, U.S. Rep. Chuck Fleischmann (R-TN-03), local elected leaders, and school officials.
"By centralizing our global nuclear operations in Oak Ridge, we are leveraging strong local partnerships to deliver increased energy capacity," said Mark Whitney, president of Amentum's Energy & Environment division.
Amentum, headquartered in Chantilly, Virginia, employs approximately 50,000 people across more than 70 countries.
