American Express (NYSE: AXP) and its subsidiary American Express Travel Related Services Company, Inc. consented to an order issued by the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System on October 8, 2026, to resolve regulatory reviews of the company's financial crimes compliance program.
American Express National Bank also consented to a separate order issued by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency and agreed to pay a civil money penalty of $350 million to the OCC in connection with the same matter.
According to the company, a portion of the penalty had been reserved in prior periods and is not expected to affect its full-year 2026 financial guidance. The company also stated that costs associated with meeting the requirements of the consent orders are not anticipated to affect its 2027 guidance.
The consent orders do not impose an asset cap on the company.
