October 8, 2026 9:50 AM EDT

Manulife Financial Corporation (NYSE: MFC) has appointed Sinéad O'Connor as Chief Actuary, effective October 12, 2026. O'Connor will report to Phil Witherington, President and Chief Executive Officer, and join Manulife's Executive Leadership Team.

O'Connor succeeds Stephanie Fadous, who passed away suddenly last month.

O'Connor joined Manulife in 2007 and most recently served as Global Head of Inforce Management. She has also held roles including Deputy Chief Actuary, Head of Group Actuarial, and US IFRS Chief Actuary, with additional leadership positions in Annuities, Long Term Care, and Finance.

She is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries UK and a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries USA, and is working toward Canadian FCIA accreditation. Until that accreditation is obtained, Derek Houle will serve as Appointed Actuary. Manulife said it will appoint a new Global Head of Inforce Management at a later date.

"It is a privilege to take on this role and have the opportunity to lead a team of colleagues who approach their work with such care and expertise each day," O'Connor said in a statement.

Manulife trades on the Toronto, New York, and Philippine stock exchanges under the ticker MFC, and on the Hong Kong stock exchange under the symbol 945.
