NetEase Cloud Music and gamma. form multi-year China music deal
NetEase Cloud Music (HKEX: 9899) and gamma., the media and technology company founded by Larry Jackson and Ike Youssef, announced a multi-year strategic partnership to distribute gamma.'s artist catalog in China, according to a press release.
Under the agreement, NetEase Cloud Music will serve as a key launch platform for licensed recordings from gamma.'s roster, which includes Ye, Mariah Carey, Sexyy Red, Usher, and Snoop Dogg, among others. The partnership also covers artist promotion, cultural exchange, and original music content.
The companies cited the September 2025 China debut of Mariah Carey's album Here For It All on NetEase Cloud Music as a precursor to the deal. The album generated more than four times the streaming volume of Carey's 2018 album Caution in its first two weeks and set a first-day streaming record in China, surpassing all of Carey's studio albums released in the previous decade in that market.
Vivian Wei, Vice President of Copyrights at NetEase Cloud Music, said the company looks "forward to working closely with gamma. and leveraging our respective strengths in streaming platforms and copyright content to further enhance the visibility and influence of international artists in the Chinese market."
Larry Jackson, Founder and CEO of gamma., said NetEase's approach to releases made the partnership "an obvious move," adding that "aligning with a company that is willing to go the extra step on treating your company's release as if it is their release is something that will truly move the needle."
NetEase Cloud Music reports more than 200 million monthly active users. Gamma. operates eight global offices and releases more than 10,000 tracks monthly through its Vydia platform.
