Enphase Energy (NASDAQ: ENPH) has begun production shipments of its IQ Gateway Fusion product in India, according to a company statement. The device is designed to keep home appliances running on solar power during daytime grid outages, without requiring a separate home battery.
The IQ Gateway Fusion combines an IQ Gateway, IQ Relay, and a built-in power socket into a single unit. It works with IQ8 Microinverters and uses what Enphase calls Sunlight Backup to maintain power to connected loads when the grid goes down. Compatible loads include home UPS systems, refrigerators, and electric scooters.
For households that already use a UPS during outages, the system can charge UPS batteries with solar during daylight hours, extending backup runtime and reducing grid dependence. If the UPS drains overnight, the system resumes charging it with solar the following morning. When the grid is operational, the system powers home loads with solar and exports surplus energy back to the grid.
Each IQ Gateway Fusion supports up to 3,680 W of output and is compatible with up to seven IQ8P or nine IQ8HC Microinverters. The unit carries an IP65 rating and is designed for terraces, small rooftops, and compact homes. Commissioning is handled through the Enphase Installer App.
"Indian homeowners shouldn't lose access to their own solar power when the grid goes down," said Sunil Thamaran, senior vice president and managing director of India at Enphase Energy. "IQ Gateway Fusion delivers daytime backup and smarter UPS charging in a simple, compact system that our installers can deploy quickly."
