Keysight Technologies (NYSE: KEYS) has announced the Velocity 4900 Series, a line of Layer 1 automation switches designed to replace manual cabling and physical topology changes in network test labs with software-controlled connectivity.
The series launches with two models. The Velocity 4902 supports Ethernet speeds from 100 megabits per second (Mbps) to 100 gigabits per second (Gbps) and includes 72 QSFP28 ports, supporting up to 288 connections with breakouts. The Velocity 4906 features 288 SFP28 ports supporting speeds from 100 Mbps to 25 Gbps in a fixed-form-factor platform.
Both switches provide Layer 1 forwarding through a low-latency switching matrix and support single-mode fiber, multimode fiber, direct-attach copper, and active optical cables. Port speed and media configuration are available on a per-port basis. The switches also include port tapping for diagnostics and one-to-many traffic replication.
The products are designed to integrate with CI/CD development workflows, allowing engineering teams to configure, save, and reproduce physical test topologies through a graphical user interface. Remote access and resource sharing across teams and locations are supported without requiring physical cable changes.
Anil Kollipara, Vice President and General Manager of Automated Testing and Assurance at Keysight, said: "The Velocity 4900 Series gives organizations a practical and cost-effective way to begin modernizing the physical lab. By automating Layer 1 connectivity and making test resources easier to share, Keysight is helping customers improve utilization, expand test coverage, and accelerate development without requiring a complete lab transformation."
The Velocity 4902 and 4906 are available to order, with initial deliveries planned for January 2027. Both products integrate with the broader Keysight Velocity portfolio, which includes resource reservation, lab orchestration, and test automation capabilities.
